Venues to Visit

Exeter’s summer events wouldn’t be the same without the venues that bring them to life. Whether you’re soaking up the sunshine before a gig, enjoying an alfresco drink with friends, or catching a performance under campus lights, these spaces set the scene for some of the season’s most memorable moments. Here are a few of our favourites to explore this summer and beyond.

The Great Hall

A true icon of the South West’s cultural scene, the Great Hall stands at the heart of Streatham Campus and comes into its own during the summer months. Its central location and impressive acoustics make it the perfect backdrop for warm-weather gigs, comedy nights and big-name tours. With a legendary history of hosting acts like Bob Marley, U2 and Kaiser Chiefs, it’s a must-visit for anyone wanting a live event with atmosphere.

The Lemon Grove

Intimate, energetic and packed with history, The Lemon Grove (or “The Lemmy”) is the perfect summer night spot. Holding up to 800 people, it’s hosted everyone from Blur to Muse—proof that great things come in smaller venues. Whether you’re heading to a student showcase, spoken word evening or themed summer party, The Lemmy is where campus memories are made.

The Ram Bar

The Ram is summer on campus in a nutshell. This beloved student bar serves up pub classics and local drinks with a side of sunshine, thanks to its buzzing outdoor seating area. With six screens showing sport, regular pub quizzes, and live music in the mix, it’s the perfect stop for food and drinks before the gig – or just for hanging out in the summer sun.

Forum Kitchen

Forum Kitchen is a celebration of flavour, creativity and community. By day, it’s a buzzing food court packed with local street food vendors, perfect for grabbing lunch in the sun between events. By night, it transforms into a cosy, adaptable space for open mic nights, drinks receptions and hands-on workshops. However you spend your summer days, Forum Kitchen brings the energy.

Why Summer at Exeter Hits Different

Summer at Exeter isn’t just about events—it’s about community. Whether you’re belting out lyrics at a live gig, laughing through a comedy set, or relaxing with friends in the sun outside the Forum, the campus and city come alive with energy and connection.
